Motul is strengthening its motorsport footprint by becoming the Official Lubricants Partner of McLaren Endurance Racing, expanding its collaboration with McLaren beyond Formula 1 and into the world of endurance racing.
Announced in Kuala Lumpur on 19 January 2026, the partnership will see Motul support the McLaren United Autosports WEC Hypercar Team with advanced lubricants for the engine, transmission and differential. Beyond supplying fluids, Motul will also provide deep technical collaboration as McLaren prepares for its highly anticipated return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027.
With a legacy deeply rooted in endurance racing, Motul brings decades of expertise to a discipline where performance must be sustained hour after hour under extreme mechanical stress. This makes the brand a natural fit for McLaren’s Hypercar programme, where reliability, consistency and efficiency are just as important as outright speed.
🎙️ “Welcoming Motul to this exciting project strengthens our team for the challenge ahead. Motul brings invaluable expertise across performance, technology and innovation. In a sport where every detail matters, we’re proud to have Motul alongside us as we build momentum towards our return to endurance racing,” said James Barclay, Team Principal of McLaren Endurance Racing.
Julien Plet, Head of R&D at Motul, added:
🎙️ “Endurance racing is about sustaining performance over time, hour after hour, under constant mechanical stress. Working closely with McLaren Endurance Racing allows us to co-create bespoke fluid solutions focused on consistency, durability and reliability — the true markers of performance in endurance competition.”
Motul’s involvement in endurance racing stretches back to the 1950s as a long-standing partner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2016, Motul was appointed the Official Lubricants Partner of both the FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans, cementing its central role at the highest level of long-distance racing.
Built on decades of racing innovation, Motul specialises in tailor-made fluid solutions engineered to deliver peak performance under the most demanding conditions — not just on the circuit, but also in iconic events like the Dakar Rally. That endurance-proven expertise will now directly support McLaren Endurance Racing as the two brands co-develop bespoke lubricants for the Hypercar programme.
Together, Motul and McLaren are setting the stage for a bold return to endurance racing , where technology, teamwork and relentless reliability define success
