Kuala Lumpur, 23 January 2026 – Tesla has expanded its Malaysian lineup with the introduction of the Model 3 Standard and Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), aimed at making electric vehicle ownership more accessible while maintaining the brand’s signature standards in safety, performance and technology.
Tesla’s mission is to build a world of amazing abundance by making electric vehicles, artificial intelligence and robotics technology accessible, desirable and practical for everyday life within a fully integrated ecosystem. In Malaysia, that vision is now backed by pricing that starts from RM147,600 for the Model 3 Standard and RM216,450 for the Model Y Long Range RWD, with financing options offering monthly instalments from just RM1,138* and interest rates as low as 1.99%.
By expanding its local lineup, Tesla is giving Malaysian buyers more ways to step into EV ownership with lower running costs, strong real-world range, smart connectivity and access to one of the most established fast-charging networks in the country.
Model 3 Standard: Tesla Ownership Made Easier
The Model 3 Standard is now Tesla’s most affordable entry point in Malaysia and delivers the lowest total cost of ownership in the current Tesla lineup. It offers up to 534 km of range on a single charge thanks to its highly efficient, aerodynamic design.

With a peak Supercharging rate of 175 kW, the Model 3 Standard can recover up to 270 km of range in just 15 minutes, making long-distance trips far less intimidating. In real-world terms, that’s enough for a smooth Klang Valley–to–Johor run with a short charging stop.
Like all Teslas, the Model 3 stays constantly connected via the Tesla app. Owners can remotely control cabin climate, monitor charging status, locate the vehicle and even receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates that improve features and performance over time.
Model Y Long Range RWD: Space, Safety and Serious Range
The Model Y continues to be Malaysia’s most popular mid-size electric SUV, and the new Long Range RWD variant now delivers the longest range in the Model Y lineup – up to 661 km on a single charge.

With a peak charging rate of 250 kW, it can add up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes at a Supercharger station. That makes cross-state journeys like Kuantan to Penang far more practical without long charging downtime.
Storage is another strong suit. With over 2,138 litres of cargo space when the rear seats are folded, the Model Y easily fits four large suitcases plus extra gear in the front trunk (frunk). It’s clearly aimed at families and active lifestyles that need space without sacrificing efficiency.
On the safety front, the Model Y holds top ratings from NHTSA (U.S.), IIHS (U.S.) and Euro NCAP, reinforcing Tesla’s focus on occupant protection and advanced driver-assistance systems.
Charging Network and Ownership Ecosystem
Tesla continues to invest heavily in Malaysia’s charging infrastructure. The latest Supercharger sites at Nexus Bangsar South and expansions at Quayside Mall now bring the national total to:
• 18 Supercharging stations (76 Superchargers)
• 17 Destination Charging stations (79 Destination Chargers)
Beyond public charging, more than 10,000 households are already part of Tesla’s Home Charging Program, enabling convenient daily charging right at home.
Tesla is committed to expanding this network further, ensuring EV owners can travel with confidence across the country.
Experience It for Yourself
Malaysians interested in the Model 3 or Model Y can book test drives at Tesla Experience Centres and Pop-Up Stores nationwide, including locations in:
• Cyberjaya
• Pavilion Damansara Heights
• Setia City Mall (Shah Alam)
• Gurney Plaza (Penang)
• AEON Mall Tebrau City (Johor Bahru)
• Vivacity Megamall (Kuching)
What Tesla is doing here isn’t just about adding two more variants — it’s about removing excuses not to go electric.
The Model 3 Standard finally puts a “real” Tesla into reach for everyday buyers, while the Model Y Long Range RWD hits a sweet spot for families who want space, range and safety without jumping straight to top-tier pricing. On paper, the numbers already look strong. In real-world use, it’s Tesla’s charging network and software ecosystem that continue to separate it from the pack.
More importantly, this move confirms that EVs in Malaysia are no longer a fringe choice. They’re becoming a mainstream option, and Tesla clearly wants to lead that shift.
If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to go electric, this is one of the most convincing cases yet.
