Kuala Lumpur, 3 February 2026 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially kicked off mass production of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce at its Pekan assembly plant, marking a major milestone for the brand’s local manufacturing footprint. Bookings for the new Xforce will open within the same week, signalling that the compact SUV’s Malaysian debut is just around the corner.
The start of production at Pekan isn’t just a symbolic move. It reflects Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s continued investment in product expansion and local manufacturing capability. To support the Xforce, MMM has upgraded its Pekan operations with a new Sub-Assembly Body Shop, alongside advanced equipment installed across the paint, outfitting and testing lines to meet the demands of this new model.
Built with Japanese Precision, Assembled in Malaysia
Production of the Xforce at Pekan follows Mitsubishi Motors’ globally established manufacturing standards, developed through decades of Japanese engineering and production discipline. From body assembly and painting to final inspection, every stage is governed by strict quality control processes designed to ensure long-term durability, consistency and reliability.

“Mass production of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce represents the application of Mitsubishi Motors’ Japanese manufacturing philosophy at our Pekan plant,” said Takashi Sakamaki, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.
“Built on precision, process discipline and continuous improvement, these standards ensure that every Xforce produced here meets the same quality benchmarks as Mitsubishi vehicles manufactured anywhere in the world.”
First 800 Units Targeted by April
MMM has confirmed that it aims to deliver the first 800 units of the Xforce by April, following comprehensive production readiness checks and quality validation processes. This ensures that early customers receive vehicles that meet Mitsubishi’s global standards from day one.
The roll-out of the Xforce from Pekan also reinforces Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s long-term commitment to local assembly. Not just as a cost strategy, but as a foundation for building vehicles that suit Malaysian driving conditions and ownership expectations.
📝 Writer’s Take
The Xforce going local is a big deal and not just for Mitsubishi fans. Compact SUVs are one of Malaysia’s hottest segments, and building the Xforce in Pekan puts MMM in a strong position to compete on price, availability and quality control.
More importantly, this isn’t just CKD for the sake of it. The plant upgrades, new body shop, and tighter production standards show that Mitsubishi is taking the Xforce seriously as a long-term product for this market. If the driving experience lives up to the manufacturing effort behind it, the Xforce could be one of Mitsubishi’s most important Malaysian models in years.
