Shah Alam, 11 March 2026 – UMW Toyota Motor recorded 4,856 vehicle sales in February 2026, bringing its year-to-date total to 9,556 units.
The steady performance reflects continued demand for Toyota’s core models, supported by an expanded product portfolio and the brand’s extensive nationwide sales and aftersales network.
Rather than relying on a single new model launch, the company entered 2026 with multiple refreshed and electrified offerings across several segments, strengthening its overall ownership ecosystem.
Hybrid Expansion Across Multiple Segments
A major part of Toyota’s early-year momentum comes from the expansion of its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) line-up in Malaysia.
The introduction of the Toyota Vios Hybrid and Toyota Vios HEV GR Sport brings electrified efficiency into the B-segment sedan market, one of the most competitive categories in the country.
Meanwhile, Toyota has also strengthened its presence in the C-segment SUV space with the updated Toyota Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport, offering a sportier interpretation of hybrid mobility while retaining everyday practicality.
Hybrid Technology Moving Upmarket
Electrification also extends into Toyota’s more premium offerings.
The Toyota Vellfire HEV introduces hybrid efficiency into the luxury MPV segment, combining refinement and comfort with improved fuel economy.
At the same time, the Toyota Harrier HEV strengthens Toyota’s D-segment SUV offering with a refined hybrid powertrain targeted at buyers seeking a more premium driving experience.
Together, these models demonstrate Toyota’s Multi-Pathway strategy, which focuses on gradually introducing electrified powertrains across multiple vehicle segments rather than concentrating electrification in a single category.
New Prima Pearl 4S Centre in Penang
February also saw the official opening of the Prima Pearl 4S Centre in Bayan Lepas.
The integrated facility combines sales, service, spare parts and body & paint operations under one roof, improving convenience for customers in the northern region.
Key features of the facility include:
- 4 display vehicles
- 2 delivery bays
- 10 general service bays
- 10 Body & Paint bays
The centre strengthens Toyota’s broader nationwide infrastructure designed to improve accessibility and service readiness.
Ownership Programmes to Support Customers
UMW Toyota Motor also continues to enhance the ownership experience through structured support programmes.
These include:
- Toyota Service Savers – routine maintenance packages from RM31 per month
- Toyota Extend – extended warranty coverage for selected models
These programmes aim to provide greater cost transparency and long-term peace of mind for Toyota owners.
March Promotional Campaign
During the current promotional period, Toyota is offering financing packages across selected models, with deals valued at up to RM7,500.
Monthly instalments start from RM658, providing customers with more flexible ownership options as they prepare for the upcoming festive season.
According to Ravindran K, President of UMW Toyota Motor, the company’s strategy focuses on providing practical electrified solutions supported by a strong nationwide network.
