Kuala Lumpur, 27 August 2026 – GWM Malaysia has introduced the 2026 GWM TANK 500 HEV, bringing enhanced smartphone connectivity to its flagship SUV with a range of new remote-control, vehicle-monitoring and intelligent alert functions.
The latest updates are designed to make everyday ownership more convenient, giving TANK 500 HEV owners greater control and visibility of their vehicle even when they are away from it.
Through the GWM Intelligent Application, owners can remotely prepare the vehicle before a journey, monitor key vehicle information and receive alerts relating to the vehicle’s condition, location and security.
Remote Control from Your Smartphone
The enhanced connectivity allows owners to remotely start or stop the engine and control the air-conditioning system before getting into the vehicle.
The system can also be scheduled to activate the climate control at a preferred time, while the air purifier and seat ventilation can be switched on remotely to prepare the cabin in advance.
Owners can also remotely lock or unlock the doors and check whether the windows and sunroof are closed. If necessary, the windows and sunroof can be closed remotely.
These functions are particularly useful when owners have already walked away from the vehicle and want to confirm that everything has been properly secured.
Monitor Your TANK 500 HEV Remotely
The updated application also provides access to important information about the vehicle’s condition and readiness.
Owners can remotely check:
- Engine status
- Remaining driving range
- Fuel level
- Total mileage
- Tyre pressure and temperature
- Door status
- Window and sunroof status
- Air-conditioning status
- Air purifier status
- Seat ventilation status
The system can also issue notifications when abnormal tyre pressure or temperature is detected.
Additional alerts are provided when the fuel level or 12V battery level is low, allowing owners to address potential issues before their next journey.
Added Security and Peace of Mind
The connectivity system also adds several location and security functions.
Owners can view their vehicle’s current location through the application or activate the horn and hazard lights to make the vehicle easier to locate in a crowded car park.
A geofencing function allows owners to create a virtual boundary around a selected area. An alert will then be sent if the vehicle leaves the designated area.
The system also allows vehicle access to be shared with another authorised user, while GPS location settings provide owners with greater control over the vehicle’s location services.

2026 GWM TANK 500 HEV Available at Selected Dealers
The 2026 GWM TANK 500 HEV is now available at selected GWM dealerships nationwide.
As part of GWM Malaysia’s Merdeka and Hari Malaysia celebrations, the brand is also running a nationwide customer campaign from 1 August to 30 September 2026.
Customers who book a new GWM vehicle during the campaign period and complete registration by 30 September 2026 will be eligible for a lucky draw, with six customers standing a chance to win up to RM1,000 in toll cashback.
